"Miracle on Maitland St"
Well, Sailors, we've done it again. Calling it a "miracle" is probably a bit rich, but once again we have launched and masted up, pretty well in record time.

The weather on Saturday was better than predicted, and we launched 42 boats in what we think, is a record low time. Credit a dedicated, intuitive and experienced crew of slingers, hookers, pushers and pullers, and "voila", we have a harbour full o'boats!

A job well done. Given all the above, we are contemplating starting launch at 0900, vs, 0800, if the sailors are willing. Sunday proved a pinch more difficult, with that pesky east wind, but we prevailed and masted up the fleet, with skill and expediency.

Thanks also to Conrad Falkson and "Take Five" for providing the stage boat for masting day. It worked perfectly. I would like to thank the volunteer crews on both days, all who pitched in, and those who stuck it out and helped til the end. It DOES make a difference!

We've had the usual gang of veterans show up, but also some new faces, all of who are welcome, and needed. It is worth noting as well, and thanking boat owners for having their boats well prepped for both launching and masting.

It is interesting to note that our crews need no priming from me, and that you are as self lubricating as a crew could possibly be.
This, to me is another example of how KYC is a true yacht club, where members pull together for common interest and good - and some fun!. This ably functioning crew did it, and spattered amongst the various tasks, are bad puns, extrapolated "logic", various levels of "abuse", all with the fun barb in full poke mode. It's these kind of things that makes the small Kingston Yacht Club, sail way faster than it's waterline. Thanks again, for a job WELL DONE!!!

See you again in late October,

but we aren't talking about that- are we?!

Cheers,
Peter Cohrs

Recreational Vessel Courtesy Check

KPSS offers a annual, free check of safety equipment a boat must carry to ensure compliance with Transport Canada requirements. This is a voluntary program that protects the anonymity of the boat owner while providing on-the-water indication of the vessel's compliance at the time of the check. The requirements are published by Transport Canada in the Safe Boating Guide: (http://www.tc.gc.ca/publications/en/tp511/pdf/hr/tp511e.pdf).

The check requires a visit to your boat by one of our trained specialists and takes about 30 minutes to complete. If you have the required equipment aboard, our specialist will issue a decal that can be displayed on your boat. Authorities (RCMP. OPP, CCG) will be able to see your compliance easily.

If you would like to arrange for one of our specialists to meet you at your boat, please complete the form below or send an email to our RVCC Coordinator (kps.rvcc@gmail.com).

Member Profile Update

KYC Online Services has added the ability for members to add their boat name as well as their VHF MMSI number to the member roster. If you would like to add this info to your profile please visit: www.kingstonyachtclub.ca/profile
